Abstract: In the talk I will discuss computation of the Picard-Fuchs operators for certain one-parameter families of Calabi-Yau threefolds (joint work with Duco van Straten). I will consider two classes of examples: desingularized fiber products and double octics. I will present some examples with special properties: an examples without a point of maximal unipotent monodromy (MUM) and example with three MUM points.
