Organization of the Riemann Center
The Riemann Center for Geometry and Physics is a Research Initiative at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Leibniz Universität Hannover.
It aims to foster joint research by mathematicians and physicists into geometry and spacetime and to provide a discussion forum for its members, international guest scientists and the public. As such, it merges activities of the former Cluster of Excellence QUEST and the Research Training Group Analysis, Geometry and String Theory which have been present at the Leibniz Universität since 2007 and 2008, respectively.
Currently, members of the following institutes at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics are involved in the Riemann Center:
The overall responsibility for the management and development of the Riemann Center lies with the Steering Committee elected by the general assembly. Its current members are
- Prof. Dr. Wolfram Bauer (Analysis)
- Prof. Dr. Olaf Lechtenfeld (ITP)
- Prof. Dr. Knut Smoczyk (DiffGeo) – Spokesperson
The Spokesperson manages and represents the Riemann Center. The Steering Committee is supported by a Scientific Coordinator, PD Dr. Michael J. Gruber.
Patron of the Riemann Center is Federal Minister for Education and Research Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka. Read her greeting on the occasion of the opening ceremony.
Riemann Fellows and Visitors
External junior and senior scientists may visit the Riemann Center as Riemann Fellows and Riemann Visitors, respectively.
